Establishment
The Department of Coaching Education was officially established in 2005 following approval by the Council of Higher Education of Turkey and began its academic activities in the same year.

Admission Requirements
Student admission to the program is carried out in accordance with the regulations specified under the heading “Student Admission” in the section “About Ondokuz Mayıs University.”
Regulations on the Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Informal, Non-formal)
In Turkish higher education institutions, the recognition of prior formal education through vertical transfer, horizontal transfer, and intra-university transfer is conducted in accordance with the regulations titled “Regulation on the Principles of Transfer Between Associate and Bachelor’s Degree Programs, Double Major, Minor Programs, and Credit Transfer Between Institutions” issued by the Council of Higher Education. In Turkey, the recognition of non-formal and informal learning based on certificates or professional experience is still at an early stage. Therefore, the full recognition of prior learning has not yet been fully implemented in all programs of Ondokuz Mayıs University. However, exemption exams are organized at the beginning of each academic term for courses such as Computer Literacy and Foreign Languages (English, German, etc.) included in the program curriculum. Students who believe they possess the required competencies may take these exams. Students who pass the exams are exempted from the corresponding courses.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
In order to graduate, students must successfully complete all courses in the program corresponding to 240 ECTS credits and achieve a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.00 out of 4.00.
Program Profile
The Coaching Education program offers an intensive curriculum in the field of sports sciences and aims to train students as competent coaches, specialists, and conditioning trainers in their chosen sports disciplines. The curriculum includes compulsory and elective courses related to coaching profession and general education. In order to gain professional experience prior to graduation, students are required to complete internship training over two semesters in relevant sports clubs.
Employment Opportunities for Graduates
Graduates are employed as coaches, sports specialists, and conditioning trainers in sports federations, clubs, private primary and secondary schools, and universities.
Access to Further Studies
Graduates who successfully complete the undergraduate program may apply for Master’s and Doctoral programs in their own or related fields, provided that they obtain a valid score from the ALES examination and demonstrate sufficient proficiency in the English language.

In addition, the campus includes an Olympic-size indoor swimming pool, outdoor swimming pool, sports halls, football fields, tennis courts, Olympic athletics track, indoor athletics hall, and artistic gymnastics hall, all of which are actively utilized in the implementation of the academic programs.
